Dr. Wes Dripps is the Executive Director of the Shi Institute for Sustainable Communities at Furman University. Sustainability has been a part of the Furman campus for many years, and in 2020 they shifted to add a community engagement and community focus to their work.
In our discussion we get a tour of the Institute’s Southern Living Designer home and some of the features that make this a “green” home. We talk about what Sustainability actually means and how it embraces the social justice impacts of our society. We talk about the wholistic view that is necessary to have sustainable communitites.
Finally, Wes leaves us with some ways that we, as active, engaged Boomers can become involved in our communities as well as incorporate sustainable practicies in our lives.
